Silence is not golden
Stigma and shame are a trap that keep youth silent when they really should be asking for help. Teen suicide is as real as cancer, but administrators are loathe to get involved.
There is always one parent who complains that social-emotional assessment is invasive, and there it goes..
Still, there is hope. More and more schools are including mental health topics in to the curriculum, even in the earlier years.
Innovative programs are needed. I don't think we have a choice. Technology could make the difference. Anonymous screening, secondary assessments, longitudinal monitoring and text-based nudges. That's Epiphany360.
